Pre-Teens

9 – 12 years old

Pre-Teens are welcome to join us each day during our Open Recreation Program. The Pre-een Area is located upstairs in the open lobby. Pre-Teens have access to computers, board games, video games, foosball, pool table, movies, a variety of crafting materials, social activities, health and life skills, the arts, recreation, sports and fitness, character and leadership, education, and much more.

Some of the programs for Pre-Teens to participate in at the Youth Center include:

Our Pre-Teen Council focuses on leadership of self and leadership in the community.     This program is also known as Torch Club. Members lead by example and are respectful, reliable, responsible, and tolerant of others.

4-H focuses on youth learning by doing – this means projects are hands on and youth driven. Youth focus on hobby exploration, leadership development, community service, expanding on life skills, and more!

Power Hour motivates youth to use some time after school to do homework or enrichment activities.  The goal is for them to achieve academic success, and encouraging them to be life-long, self-directed learners.

The annual National Arts Contest encourages youth to express themselves through the arts. Original works of art are displayed and judged locally, and the winning pieces are submitted for regional and national level displays and voting.  Themes feature some key elements for positive youth development and other important subjects that youth and staff across the Boys and Girls Club Movement have expressed interest in.
