Connect with your Sponsor

Please ensure you connect with your sponsor. If you do not have one, contact your local CSS or MPF to request one. They will reach out to our installation MPF and inquire about a sponsor.

If this does not work, please contact your local M&FRC and they will reach out to me at Peterson’s M&FRC. We will work diligently to get a sponsor for you and can address most questions directly. The contact information is below:

Check-in Procedures

When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.

In-Processing – Commander Support Staff (CSS)

During duty hours, the arrival point for all inbound active duty military members, serviced by the Peterson Military Personnel Section (MPS), is the unit Commander Support Staff (CSS). If your unit does NOT have a CSS and it is within duty hours (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM), report to the 21st Military Personnel Section (MPS) in Bldg. 350.  For more detailed information on the hours and services provided by the MPS, please call 719.556.0008 or DSN: 834.0008.

Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF)

Outside of normal duty hours, the arrival point for all inbound active duty military members, serviced by the Peterson MPS, is the Peterson Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF), Bldg. 1425.  If inbound members report to the TLF, the member or his/her family member (if appropriate) will receive on-base quarters or a non-availability letter. In addition, by reporting to the Peterson TLF, the inbound member’s travel time and permissive leave time (if appropriate) can be properly accounted for.

All inbound members are required to in-process with their unit, the Peterson AFB Installation Military Personnel Section, and complete their PIP’s travel voucher.

Any inbound member who has had no contact with his/her sponsor or gaining unit, please contact Customer Support, 719.556.0008/8912/7185/6619.  All inbound members should report to their unit CSS and be scheduled for the next available date to in-process at the MPS.

In-processing will be accomplished by the unit for the following units: NORAD/NORTHCOM, HQ USSF, 13 ASOS, 367 RCS, and 554 ISRG.

Travel Planning

Reservations for temporary lodging should be made as far in advance as possible with the lodging office. Due to a high travel time during the winter for ski season and early summer due to the Air Force Academy graduation, rooms can be scarce. Call as soon as possible to reserve rooms. For living on base, contact housing as soon as you can so they can begin working on your request.

Command Sponsorship

If the military member does not secure command sponsorship and the family members are not on their permanent change of station orders, the military member will have to pay out of pocket for travel expenses. This may have ramifications for medical, dental, official travel passports and much more. These costs are not reimbursable. Please secure command sponsorship before PCS-ing from overseas.

What to do if you get married en route?

It’s always best to ask before you do it in order to ensure you and your loved ones are properly cared for. If you get married before you permanent change of station or en route, you must inform your commander and first sergeant and follow the procedures exactly as you are given. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse, if you do not follow proper procedures.
