Winter Adventure Day

Embrace winter with us at the Winter Adventure Day 2025! Join this special single-day event designed to promote resilience and foster a love for winter sports by making them more accessible and affordable for everyone in our community. Whether you’re new to snow sports or looking to develop your skills, this day offers a range of activities to try!

Registration Details:

  • Where to Sign Up: Peterson Outdoor Recreation Office
  • When to Register: Opens February 1, 2025, at Peterson Outdoor Recreation Office from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Any remaining spots after February 1 will be available in the following weeks at the Peterson Outdoor Recreation Office and over the phone.
  • Deadline: Friday, February 14, 2025

Each customer will receive all necessary details about their chosen activities upon registration. Sign-ups are final, but in extenuating circumstances (e.g., TDY orders), cancellations or changes may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Weather Policy:
The event will continue in most weather conditions. However, if CDOT closes Monarch Pass or Monarch Mountain itself closes, the event will be canceled, as rescheduling is not possible due to vendor commitments.

FAQ

TRANSPORTATION

  • Morning Busses load: 0530 (0600 firm departure) Meet at the RP Lee Youth Center BLDG 1555, 100 Selfridge St., Peterson SFB, CO 80916
  •  There will be multiple busses, ensure you get on the correct one. ODR staff will be present to assist.
  •  Restrooms will be open within the RP Lee Youth Center prior to departure. Additional stops are not scheduled.
  • Food and beverages are allowed on the bus. Please, no glass containers. Please keep your space on the bus free of trash and crumbs.
  • It is recommended to bring a day pack for any “must have” items throughout the day. Monarch has lockers available for rent inside their main lodge area.
  • Busses load: 1530 (1600 firm departure)
  • Busses at Monarch will be locked during the day except for 12:30-1pm to grab lunch or change layers.

LIFT TICKETS

  • Lift tickets will be available for pick up starting at 0815 at the Winter Adventure Day Hospitality Area, located on the first level of the Monarch Lodge near the lockers. Signs will be posted.
  • Monarch Lifts open at 0900

LESSONS & RENTALS

  • Location: Monarch Mountain, 23715 W. US Highway 50, Monarch, CO 81201
  • Check in: 0830 (lesson begins promptly at 0900) at the large tan yurt.
  • Must sign waiver by COB : 14 FEB 2025 CLICK HERE TO SIGN WAIVER
  • All Lesson participants must meet at the Winter Adventure Day (WAD) Hospitality Area to pick up their lift ticket prior to proceeding to check in for lesson.
  • All participants 17 and younger will be required to fill out a post lesson release authorization tag to be attached to child’s jacket (release tags will be provided at Hospitality Tent).
  • Eligible participants must be ages 7 and up TUBING

TUBING

  • Location: Monarch Mountain, 23715 W. US Highway 50, Monarch, CO 81201
  • Tubing Yurt located a short walk above the Rental & Lesson Center
  • Check in @ Yurt 15min prior to your scheduled time to watch the mandatory safety video
  • Must sign waiver by COB: 14 FEB 2025 CLICK HERE TO SIGN WAIVER
  • All Tubing participants must check in at WAD Hospitality area located on the first level of the Monarch lodge near the lockers.
  • No experience necessary
  • Riders must be at least 36″ tall and able to ride alone in a tube.
  • Children aged 6 and under must be accompanied by a participating adult (in a separate tube).
  • Tubing sessions are one hour long
  • What to wear: Be sure to wear warm clothing and a waterproof outer jacket, snow pants or weatherproof shell, warm footwear with a good tread, waterproof gloved or mittens, a hat or helmet, eye protection and sunscreen. If you’re dressed for skiing or snowboarding then you’re already good to go!

CAT

  • Location: Monarch Mountain, 23715 W. US Highway 50, Monarch, CO 81201
  • Please arrive at the CAT Yurt at 0800. The yurt is located next to Ski Patrol.
  • If you have signed up for transportation, you will meet at 5am at the RP Lee Youth Center on base.

SNOWMOBILING

  • Location: Monarch Snowmobile Tours, 22763 Highway 50, Garfield/Monarch, CO 81227
  • Morning session participants arrive @ 0830 (0900 sled departure)
  • Afternoon Session participants arrive @ 1230 (1300 sled departure)
  • Snowmobiling participants that signed up for transportation should ensure they get on the correct bus in the morning (it will be an ODR white Ford Transit van)
  • Transportation from Monarch base area to afternoon snowmobiling will depart at 11:45pm from base area right below the Gunbarrel ski run.

SNOWSHOEING

  • Snowshoeing will meet at the base of the Gunbarrel Ski Run at 1230. All equipment will be provided on site. Snowshoeing route at Old Monarch Pass, 2.6 miles +380ft of elevation gain.

PREPARATION

Proper ski clothing includes water resistant pants and jacket, synthetic layers, waterproof gloves and wool socks. We recommend purchasing goggles and a buff to keep the wind off your face and out of your eyes. We do not recommend wearing any clothing that retains water, i.e. cotton, jean material. Jackets and Pants can be rented from Peterson Outdoor Recreation on a first come first serve basis.

FOOD

  • If you bring your own lunch, Monarch asks that you, please, do not eat your sack lunch inside the lodge unless you are purchasing a lunch from a Monarch food vendor.

UNDERSTAND THE RISK

Adventure sports include inherent risks to participants. Every effort is made to provide a safe and enjoyable experience, but the allure and excitement of adventure sports is due in part to the unpredictable nature of the activity. Various terrain, wildlife, weather, and other variables factor into this activity. As a guest you do have certain responsibilities to uphold and ultimately it is up to you to decide what trip is best for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please address them with our staff before participating in any trip. No outfitter can guarantee your safety or that you will have an unintended accident. These accidents may result in a variety of injuries to include but not limited abrasions, lacerations, and contusions. We are not responsible for personal injury and/or lost or damaged items. Minors under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or legal guardian signature on their release form. It is important to the safety of all guests involved for you to be honest regarding conditions that may impact your ability to perform in strenuous physical activities. Guides reserve the right to refuse service if we feel your safety or the safety of others will be compromised

No cancellations will be allowed for Winter Adventure Day. As soon as you sign up, we start booking your activities.
