Take on a winter challenge at the Camp Alexander Ice Wall in Eleven Mile Canyon. Learn ice-climbing techniques and safety fundamentals with guided instruction while exploring this scenic Colorado climbing area. Whether you’re trying ice climbing or building your skills, join Outdoor Recreation for an exciting day on the ice.

Date: Sunday, January 24, 2027

Cost: $97/person. Includes transportation, guide instruction, climbing gear, and water.

Time: 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Approx.)

Location: Camp Alexander Ice Wall, Eleven Mile Canyon, near Lake George, Colorado.

Meeting point: Outdoor Recreation, 830 Tinker Street, Bldg. 640, Peterson SFB. Please arrive at 6:30 a.m. for waivers and gear fitting.

What’s provided: Mountaineering boots, harness, crampons, helmet, guide instruction, transportation, and water.

What to bring: Warm, non-cotton layers, thick socks, warm gloves, a water-resistant jacket, hiking shoes or boots, snacks/lunch, a water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and a small daypack. Food is not provided. Leave jewelry and pets at home.

Sign-up deadline: By 12 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2027.

Cancellation deadline: By 5 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2027.
