On-Base Parks

Captain David Lyon Memorial Park (located on the southwest corner of Peterson Blvd. and Ent Ave.) and Peak View Park (located opposite the Base Exchange & Commissary) fall under the supervision of The Hub Community Center.

Captain David Lyon Memorial Park

Captain David Lyon Memorial Park is a fantastic spot for outdoor gatherings, offering a range of amenities to make your event memorable. The park features a playground, picnic tables, grills, horseshoe pits, electricity, restrooms, and plenty of parking, making it perfect for family picnics, unit events, or community get-togethers. With a welcoming atmosphere and spacious layout, it’s an ideal location to relax and enjoy time outdoors. Reserve today and make your next event a success!

Peak View Park

Peak View Park is the perfect spot for outdoor fun and stunning views. Located across from the Base Exchange, the park offers an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak and even beyond to the USAF Academy and Spanish Peaks on clear days. Enjoy a 9-hole Frisbee golf course, sand volleyball, a playground, picnic areas, grills, and horseshoe pits. With electricity, parking, and restrooms nearby, it’s a fantastic space for gatherings. 

Patriot Park

Patriot Park is a family-friendly space perfect for outdoor activities and gatherings. Located next to the RP Lee Youth Center, it features open areas ideal for sports, picnics, and community events. With picnic tables, playgrounds, and plenty of space to spread out, it’s a great location for groups of all sizes. Managed by the Youth Center, Patriot Park provides a welcoming environment for family fun and relaxation. To reserve Patriot Park, contact the Youth Center at 719.556.7220.

Park Rules

  • Park hours are from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM
  • Clean up your area.
  • No smoking in the base parks.
  • No dogs allowed in the park area, unless it’s a designated service dog. Dogs must be on a leash at all times on the base trails; dogs may run freely in the designated dog park (Garden of the Dogs) on base.
  • Approved motor vehicles only.
  • Use only approved parking area.
  • Grills may be turned on for official functions ONLY.
  • Large canopies require a dig permit.

Reservation Requirements

Captain David Lyons Memorial Park & Peak View Park

Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served bases. Reservations are accepted between February 1 – October 31, weather permitting. 

For any questions about an existing reservation, or to confirm a reservation submission, please call 719.574.4100.

Patriot Park

For information or to reserve reserving Patriot Park, please call the Youth Center at 719.556.7220.

Alcohol Guidelines

Alcohol consumption within squadron or unit government facilities is permitted for Airmen, Guardians, and their adult guests for unofficial functions (birthdays, celebrations, social gatherings, etc.). With the Commander’s approval, any group wishing to serve alcohol at their function must first complete the Dram Shop Training. To receive the training, please go to https://afservices.geniussis.com/.

Once complete, you will be required to fill out a 21FSS Alcohol Request Template Package and submit to the 21st FSS (21fss.cc.wf@us.af.mil) no later than 21 business days prior to your event.

Auditorium

Peterson Base Auditorium

The Base Auditorium (Bldg. 1440) is the perfect venue for large-scale events such as commander’s calls, presentations, and official briefings. With ample seating and audio-visual capabilities, it’s designed to accommodate events that require a professional and spacious setting. Ideal for large gatherings, the auditorium is available for reservation by authorized DoD ID card holders. Whether you’re hosting an official function or a training session, the Base Auditorium provides the perfect environment for impactful presentations and important meetings.

Food & Beverage Guidelines

No outside food or beverages are authorized in the Base Auditorium.

Contact 719.574.4103 to order food and beverages.

Important Parking Information

Base Auditorium guests/users may NOT park in parking places designated for the Base Chapel. Please respect their needs and priority.
